Indianapolis Museum of Art Wedding
I’m beyond excited to share this Indianapolis Museum of Art wedding with you. Admittedly I know the post will be long. Sorry. I’m going to break it up for you and hope you’ll return next week to read the rest.
Maria and Tom’s wedding was a myriad of classic taste, culture, beauty, and fantastic planning. But above all else, it was a display of incredible LOVE. What a wedding photographer’s dream– so there’s a lot to show and tell.
I’ve gotten to know Maria and Tom over the past year and what strikes me about them is the connection between their hearts. From their romantic engagement session, the wedding love letters they wrote to each other and special gifts for each other, there is no doubt they are the love of each other’s lives. What a beautiful thing to witness.
Wedding Planning Details
Maria and Tom wanted their wedding to be timeless and elegant, but also fresh and natural. They highlighted both Indiana and Colombia to recognize both of their cultures, and wanted their guests to leave saying it was the most fun wedding ever. Dancing was also important to Maria and delicious food was important to Tom.
They planned for an elegant garden wedding, with lots of natural and organic elements as well as modern and luxury details. The decor consisted of lush florals and lots of greenery. Maria brought the garden theme of the ceremony into the reception room. The groom grew up on a farm and the bride in Colombia, so nature has always surrounded them, and is a big part of their lives.
A couple of interesting details: Tom’s dad and brothers cut the wood slabs that held the escort cards from their family farm trees. Tom’s mom handpicked the ferns to be used in the floral arrangements. Their gorgeous welcome sign was hand carved and shaped by Tom’s brother-in-law. He cut the tree himself and shaped it into a rustic sign.
Their favors were Colombian coffee beans covered with chocolate. Maria’s family brought them all the way from Colombia. They were hand-tied with gold ribbon and a tiny Colombian flag.
The petals for the aisle were flown all the way from Bogota, Colombia.
A favorite moment for Maria and Tom was during their personal vows to each other. As they declared their love and made heartfelt promises to each other there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd or the wedding party. Maria’s dad could not attend the wedding due to health reasons. Tom promised Maria a second ceremony in Colombia so her dad could walk her down the aisle, and when she heard this she broke into tears. Highlighting both cultures, the ceremony readings were spoken in both Spanish and English.
Next week I’ll share the amazing details that put their reception over the top, provided by a group of fantastic Indianapolis wedding vendors.
