Wedding Photography Indianapolis | FAQ

What is your shooting and editing style?

My shooting and editing style is simplistic, truthful, artistic and modern. I love both the genuine feel of a candid moment and the dramatic effect of a stylized one. I don’t like to pose people but instead encourage them to be themselves, offering some “coaching” along the way. I would describe my editing style as more classic. I want you to look at your images in ten years and still feel like the editing style is relevant, not a passing fad.

How long have you been photographing weddings?

I have been photographing professionally since 2006.

Do you travel?

Yes. Travel fees may occur, just ask!

How many photos can I expect from my wedding day?

The amount of images is just as individual as couples themselves. On average you’ll receive anywhere between 600-1000 images, depending on the length of your day, if you choose to do a “first look”, size of your wedding party, location, etc…

How long will it be before we can see our photos?

Our average turnaround time for images is approximately 1-2 weeks for engagement/portrait sessions and 2-3 weeks for weddings.

Should we consider a “First Look”?

Absolutely! There are numerous reasons to do a “First Look” but the biggest reasons are being able to share your first moment together in a private setting. Also, a direct result of taking photographs beforehand is being able to enjoy cocktail hour with your wedding guests.

I am interested in booking with you, where do I go from here?

Click on the CONTACT section on the site and fill your information out accordingly. We’ll set up a time to talk about your wedding day, dreams, how you met (oh yeah, and some of the business details.)

How far in advance should I book?

8-12 months prior to your date is suggested.

Do you use professional equipment and are you insured?

Yes to both questions. I’m equipped with all the latest equipment and technology. I bring back up equipment and plenty of batteries and memory cards. I also carry liability insurance, which some venues require.

Why do you require a retainer fee to hold the date?

Many people book weddings far in advance. In order for me to guarantee that I can block that day off for you, I require a deposit and we sign a contract legally binding me to you and your date. The retainer is not an additional fee on top of the collection prince, it’s simply a percentage of the balance that would be due for my services anyway, 30% of the selected collection.

For portrait sessions, the sitting fee is $150 to secure the day and time for your shoot.

Can we book both an engagement session and a wedding with you?

Yes. In fact, most of my wedding collections include both. An engagement photo shoot consists of a planned “date” of sorts. It’s casual. It’s an adventure, exploring the places that most fit your style. Maybe it’s having a picnic in a field at sunset, riding bikes, canoeing the river, eating ice cream or going to the movies. We’ll talk through wardrobe ideas, props if necessary, and even the possibility of incorporating your dog if you have one. Engagement photos are a great way to warm up to the wedding day photography.

Do you offer artistic wedding albums?

I do! Having beautiful photographs of your wedding is monumentally important. The design of the pages will make your photographs exceptional. We’ll collaborate together to determine the best images that tell your story, creating an heirloom piece to pass down for generations to come. Your can choose a cover that is either leather, silk, or image wrapped. Color swatches will help you further display your unique style on the cover. You also determine the size and number of pages. After that, I’ll take care of everything else.

Albums are included with some of the wedding collections and also offered a la carte. Parent albums are available as well.

Where can I reach you if my question was not answered here?

Here, facebook, or twitter. You’ll find sneak peek images from my most recent weddings. Become a fan!

    Empowering Magazine Style Portraits
Call it Cosplay, individual expression, or art. Ca Call it Cosplay, individual expression, or art. Call it fun, fantasy, or perhaps an area you'd rather not venture into. It's okay. But what I do encourage clients to do is see themselves in a different way. Step out of the everyday selfie box. Put energy toward creating a concept (either by yourself or us together) of how you've always imagined being photographed. Look for inspiration in print magazines, online, or in your best friend's closet. And if you need help, I'm here.

50 OVER 50: It seems fitting to celebrate another 50 OVER 50: It seems fitting to celebrate another beautiful 50+ woman on International Women's Day.

Living in Carmel, IN and working as a respiratory therapist, Sue, at 59, is enjoying freedom now that she didn’t once have to pursue what interests her. Travel, trying out restaurants, having drinks and hanging out with friends is possible now that she isn’t raising children.

She also decided she’s ready to get out of her comfort zone. "I want to try new things. I tried skydiving. And now a photo shoot—this was something way outside of my comfort zone. I wanted to do something that focused on me. I wanted to see how someone else saw me. I’ve realized it’s okay to focus on yourself occasionally," said Sue.

She feels life really starts at 50. "A person has a better sense of themself, they’re grounded, and they’ve learned to let go of the small stuff."

And that's good news for all the younger people out there.

To read more of Sue's story, visit the 50 over 50 exhibit at Reid Health starting in August!

I tend to focus mostly on faces, but Henry's shoot was different. The fall landscape was beautiful, the weather was perfect, and we finished his session with this image. It's one of my favorites. Maybe because of the simplicity, or the different perspective, or it's the graphic designer in me that loves the negative space in the composition.

Lauren and Elizabeth said their "I do's" courthous Lauren and Elizabeth said their "I do's" courthouse style. I have to be honest, it was one of the most intimate and meaningful ceremonies. I was asked to sign my name as a witness to their commitment, and was honored not only to sign their marriage certificate, but also to be present in that moment. (One of the cool things about being a photographer is the "special access" your given.) The day ended with family and friends cheering them on outside the courthouse, followed by festivities and amazing food and drinks at Jeff Ruby's in downtown Cincinnati. Cheers to both of you, and a long, happy life together.

50 OVER 50: Meet Maritza. Born in the Philippines, 50 OVER 50: Meet Maritza. Born in the Philippines, she now resides in Eaton, OH.

For ten years she worked during the day and went to school at night. Finally, in 1994 she earned her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in the Philippines. This was the start of making her dreams come true of coming to the United States. Over a few years time, Maritza “got her ducks in a row”, mapped out a timeline, and eventually was able to immigrate to the US.

"If you want your dream—go and get it, even if it’s slowly."

During her photoshoot, Maritza, 56, wanted to include a headpiece and fan made by her good friend Jennifer Tan, who passed away in 2018. Honoring this cherished relationship made her images that much more valuable.

"This photoshoot experience was extraordinary because I could express myself, even at a later age. The world is a stage, I wanted to be on the stage at some point to present self and culture. It was fun to have a nice make up—I could look pretty but it did not change my personality. I am still Maritza."

"Jules is part of what makes me strong. He is my c "Jules is part of what makes me strong. He is my counter-balance in more ways than one. I want to honor my relationship with my service dog and emphasize the deep bond I have with him. I want to honor that in a way I wasn’t able to do with my first service dog, Max. I’d done family portraits of him with my husband and our other dogs, but nothing that really honored how much a part of your life a service dog becomes, that they are part of your life 24/7. Max stayed with me in the hospital through many tough surgeries. He was the goodest boi, and in honoring Jules, I honor Max too. I am never without my service dog, even when we aren’t working. He works both when I am in my wheelchair and when I am walking, and his tasks are different for each. And we also just spend time cuddling, being silly, or playing, time when Jules is a regular dog. I wanted to honor his ability to do his job, to be serious, when people sometimes make it hard. I wanted to honor that he is not a robot, that he’s the silliest character I know."--Amy Sekhar
