Orchard Engagement Photography
This orchard engagement photography at Daugherty Orchard is one of my favorite engagement photo sessions to share. The orchard is the perfect place to slow the pace down and just let moments happen as they naturally would.
Haley and Garret’s story
From the moment Haley met him, she knew there was something special in the works. Haley, a student at Indiana University Bloomington, ran into Garrett when he decided to visit the campus with a friend. The two hit it off to Haley’s surprise, the next day Garrett told one of their mutual friends he was interested in getting to know her more. She was elated, and texted her mom to tell her she had met the man she was going to marry. He just didn’t know it yet. How’s that for certainty? Her mom still has that text. Haley can’t explain exactly what it was she felt that day that made her feel so certain, she just knew. After spending time together for a few months they realize they were a perfect match.
The Proposal
Fast forward two years. It was the second birthday Haley has celebrated with Garrett. She thought it would be fun to mark the occasion by searching for succulents to create an arrangement for her apartment. Succulent shopping and going to dinner were a great was to spend her birthday, not to mention a summer concert and the fourth of July fireworks overlooking a nearby lake the night before.
Garrett told Haley he had another present for her. He handed her a distressed white wooden box with their names carved in it. His dad is a very talented carpenter and Garrett knew Haley loved anything that looked antique or distressed. She was still unsuspecting at that moment and told Garrett how thoughtful it was for him to learn to make her a jewelry box. But when she opened the box there was a written letter for her, asking her to spend forever with him.
We were able to incorporate Haley’s vintage-chic sensibilities into their orchard engagement photo shoot, thanks to her organization and planning. A family quilt, an old wooden bench and an old Crosley record player added to the reflection of her sense of style. A special furry family member also made the shoot much more fun.
The future is bright for Haley and Garrett. After graduation Garrett will be attending law school, and Haley hopes to put her apparel merchandising major and business minor to work, finding a place in the retail industry and eventually owning her own boutique. In the midst of all that, there is a wedding to plan. I can’t wait for this summer!
